Shipping policy
1. General Information
This Shipping Policy applies to all orders placed through the online shop operated by Selina Wessels.
It provides supplementary information on processing times, shipping methods, delivery times, customs, import duties and shipping-related responsibilities.
This Shipping Policy supplements the seller's General Terms and Conditions, the Withdrawal/Returns Policy and any other legal notices provided in the shop.
2. Processing Time
Unless otherwise stated on the respective product page, orders are generally dispatched within 7-10 business days of receipt of payment.
In exceptional cases, processing times may be longer, for example in the event of:
- a high volume of orders,
- public holidays,
- temporary disruptions at the shipping provider,
- force majeure, or
- other circumstances beyond the seller's reasonable control.
If a significantly longer processing time applies to a particular artwork, this will be stated in the product description or otherwise communicated to the customer.
3. Shipping Destinations
Orders can be shipped to Germany, to other countries of the European Union and to selected countries outside the European Union, subject to availability and logistical feasibility.
The seller reserves the right to restrict or decline shipping to certain destinations if delivery is not reasonably possible or would involve disproportionate risks, costs or legal difficulties.
4. Shipping Costs and Delivery Times
All prices include VAT.
| Destination | Method | Cost | Delivery time after dispatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germany | Standard | €7.90 – free from €390 | 1–3 business days |
| Germany | Express | €19.50 | 1–2 business days |
| EU | Standard | €19.90 – free from €390 | 2–7 business days |

*United Arab Emirates, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.
Delivery times apply from dispatch. Orders usually require a processing time of 7–10 business days before dispatch (see section 2). This also applies to express shipping.
Final shipping costs are shown at checkout before the order is placed.
5. Notes on Delivery Times
The delivery times stated in section 4 and in the online shop are non-binding estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Delivery may be delayed by circumstances beyond the seller’s control, in particular customs inspections, import clearance, delays at local postal services, disruptions at shipping carriers, weather events, public holidays, delivery conditions in remote areas or force majeure.
The seller is not responsible for delays caused solely by customs authorities, local delivery services or other third parties beyond the seller’s control.
6. Shipping Method and Passing of Risk
Unless a specific shipping method has been expressly agreed, the seller selects a suitable shipping method at its reasonable discretion.
For consumers, the statutory provisions on the passing of risk apply.
For businesses, the risk passes to the customer upon handover of the shipment to the transport company.
7. Packaging and the Nature of the Artworks
The seller takes appropriate measures to package the artworks properly for shipping.
Customers should however note that original works in oil pastel and oil stick on raw canvas are delicate objects. Depending on the nature of the medium and the surface, slight traces of the artistic process, minor surface irregularities or medium-typical characteristics may be present which in themselves constitute neither transport damage nor a defect.
Customers are asked to handle the artwork carefully after delivery. Surfaces may react sensitively to:
- pressure,
- friction,
- fingerprints,
- moisture,
- solvents,
- heat, or
- improper storage.
8. Delivery Address
The customer is responsible for providing a complete and correct delivery address at checkout.
If an order cannot be delivered because the customer provided an incorrect or incomplete address, the seller is not responsible for the resulting delay, non-delivery or additional costs.
If a parcel is returned to the seller due to an incorrect or incomplete address, re-shipping may require payment of additional shipping and ancillary costs before the order is dispatched again.
9. Customs, Import VAT, Duties and Other Charges
For deliveries to countries outside the European Union, additional costs may arise, in particular:
- import VAT,
- customs duties,
- local taxes,
- customs clearance fees,
- intermediary fees,
- processing fees, or
- similar charges levied by the destination country or the shipping provider.
These costs are not under the seller's control and are borne by the customer unless expressly stated otherwise.
The customer is responsible for complying with any import regulations, local legal restrictions, customs formalities and documentation obligations in the destination country.
The seller is not responsible for delays, additional costs, non-delivery, seizure or return of the shipment caused by customs procedures, missing import documents, local restrictions or the customer's failure to comply with import requirements.
10. Refused Acceptance, Uncollected Parcels and Non-Payment of Import Duties
If a shipment is refused, not collected, returned as undeliverable or cannot be delivered because import duties, customs, taxes, clearance fees or similar costs were not paid, the seller is not responsible for the resulting delay, non-delivery or return.
If such a shipment is returned to the seller, the seller may, to the extent legally permissible, deduct the following costs from a refund:
- the original shipping costs,
- the return shipping costs,
- customs return costs,
- clearance or processing fees,
- surcharges charged by the shipping provider, and
- other third-party costs incurred in connection with the failed delivery or return.
If the returned artwork arrives damaged as a result of failed delivery, refused acceptance, delay, improper storage during transport or inadequate handling outside the seller's control, a refund may, to the extent legally permissible, additionally be reduced in accordance with the diminution in value that has occurred.
11. Damaged Parcels and Transport Damage
Customers are asked to check the parcel on delivery and to report obvious transport damage to both the shipping provider and the seller as soon as possible.
Where possible, the customer should retain the parcel, the packaging material and the contents in the condition in which they were delivered until the matter has been clarified.
Failure to report transport damage immediately does not affect mandatory statutory rights; however, prompt notification can facilitate clarification and any claim against the shipping provider.
12. Partial Deliveries and Availability
As artworks are generally sold as unique original works, each ordered work is subject to its availability at the time of order confirmation.
Should an artwork no longer be available despite careful inventory management, due to overlapping orders or other exceptional circumstances, the customer will be informed without undue delay and any payment already received for the unavailable artwork will be refunded without undue delay.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the seller is not obliged to make partial deliveries.
13. Returns and Return Shipping
Information on returns, withdrawal rights and refunds is governed by the applicable General Terms and Conditions and the Withdrawal/Returns Policy.
Where a return is permissible or legally required, the customer is responsible for packing the artwork securely and, where applicable, using packaging that provides protection equivalent to the original protective packaging.
For international returns, the customer is also responsible for any required customs declarations, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
14. Contact
For questions about shipping, delivery or transport-related matters, customers may use the contact details given in the shop's Legal Notice (Impressum).
